The W Hotel in Puerto Rico tapped Patricia Urquoil to design their property in the colors, styles, textures and substrates that represent the island’s natural, tropical beauty and its vibrant culture.
The string details in the chairs as well as in the ceiling/wall element may reflect P.R.’s official national instrument, the cuatro, a member of the string family. Notice the play of varied chandeliers, colorful spiral mosaics and multi-colored wood on the columns and metal wall details.
Design tip: You can mix high and low and balance color with earthy elements. Your space doesn’t have to be one shade of beige. Integrating color brings life to a room.
