Tabletop Trend: Back to Black

Jun 5, 2018 | Entertaining, See+Hear+Heart | 0 comments

During the May 2018 National Restaurant Association tradeshow, black dishware was everywhere in all its glory. It was like eyeing your next favorite black dress, but for the table.

Manufacturers are creating black tableware in porcelain, ceramic and melamine materials finished with matte, gloss and textured details including contemporary patterns such as stripes and Pollack influenced paint lines. Black accessories, buffet displays, flatware and glassware completed the collections.

Geometric shapes are quite popular in the all facets of design, which also holds true with tabletop products. Vendors featured most of their black plates in traditional shapes in unconventional styling, as well as, organic shapes.

Trendsetting restaurateurs and hospitality professionals will integrate funky patterns and organic shapes to make dining sexy and fresh.
